On Friday we drove with our Area Manager - Tasara Makasi, to Lesotho.  We were invited to a Pathway Completion Ceremony for 25 students in the area.  We enjoyed the drive down the nice hotel and especially meeting the students and hearing of their success.  This is Sister Nkawsi and her daughter Litsoenio.   District President Selikane, and Elder Tsui who has been organizing and planning  this ceremony for months. Sister Mokhubu, Sister Matomaneng, Brother Techache, Sister Phoeho, and Sister Dhlokeul - such happy smiles! Sister Magumela, Sister Seoete, Sister Nkoatsi, and President Seleke. Sister Traneksile, Sister Sepamo, and Sister Tsiu. Sister Mottlie, baby Khanya, Sister Sethaki, RS President Lerato Motloi, Leura, President Seleke, and Relebotile, Motloi.  Throwing hats in the air - a few of these students began Pathway in 2019 - they are graduating from BYUI with their Bachelor's degrees!  Most have completed the three Pathway Worldwide courses and are ready to go on to Ensi

Christmas Lights 2022

Image
On Thanksgiving we put up our Christmas decorations - very small tree and decorations for the door.  It was fun to see the lights when the sun went down.  This is the computer room and the colored blinking lights.   This is the front room window - these lights are all white lights.  I is nice to have them on as we work in the house. These are my favorite - the colored lights in the kitchen!  I like our plants on the shelf also...and added the red bow in the center! Lights in our kitchen windows!  I have always loved Christmas lights!  Jesus Christ is the Light of the World!

Happy Plants

Image
These are the pretty flowers that bloomed on a plant that was given to us from Elder and Sister Peck who left the mission in July.   When the plant got so tall it touched the ceiling on the kitchen - Elder Smith put it out on the front porch - and it was very happy there. The shamrock plant was very happy on our kitchen shelf! Her the other plant is growing to the ceiling!  This what the plant looked like when Elder and Sister Peck gave it to us.  This shamrock plant was so pretty on our shelf.  Plus it ids easy to remember to water them when they are in front of you every day!

New Sewing Project

Image
Sister Watson and her husband work with the MTC's in our Area.  They also served at the Provo MTC for many years.  In Provo she learned about these modest 'mini cammies' to help Sister Missionaries be modest.  She brought some already sewn with her,  and we had a fun afternoon sewing on buttons. I am wearing a white one.     Here is a black one - when it is hot is is nice to have coverage without wearing a whole camisole, or two shirts.  The MTC's asked for more so she had the pattern sent to her and gave it to me to cut some out.   Here is the fabric laid out and  cut to measure - ready for sewing., Sister Watson went with me to the fabric store and found the right fabric. We also found the right size and color of elastic. The elastic goes around the bra strap and then buttons.  It is easy to zig zag the sides - but time consuming to sew the buttons! It's a good project that helps the sister missionaries as they go forth to serve!  We don't have any young siste

November Happenings

These Jacaranda trees in Johannesburg are so pretty!   Dead scorpion on the floor of the parking garage at the Area Office - yikes! Picture of the Kwa-Thema First Ward Primary - not a chance to get a picture of our Second Ward! Aren't they beautiful?  Both wards had so many children wearing white shirts/blouses and dark skirts and pants. The singing was great!  The parts cute - the smallest children said one word:  Faith, Repentance, Forgiveness, etc.  On the way to Church we passed over two hundred motorcycles on the freeway.  They were riding side by side and stretched for miles! Most if the riders had on Jackets that said South African Crusaders - leather of course! This is a stuffed wart hog in the African store - those key chains I've sent are from the lower, smaller tusks - cool huh?  When I purchase them they give me a affidavit about live animal products being exported, that I send in the packages. Two letters from Aunt Sue - one mailed September 19, the other one Octo

Primary Program Colorado

Image
Sunday November 13 - we were thrilled to watch the Primary Program from Elbert, CO.  Here is Faye - top right white blouse, and Ruby - center looking cute! Sheffield doing his part - so great!  When Faye was speaking the screen froze - and came back on as she was walking away - sigh.                                                                    Ruby doing great on her part. Sheffield singing so good! We have been able to see Fairbanks and Kroeber's programs - loved it  and the dear grandchildren who did so well.

This is the result of having a basal cell carcinoma operated on! Seven stitches - not much discomfort or pain.  Elder Smith is a good nurse - he watched and  said the cancer was about the size of a cherry.  We are grateful for good medical help and processes! Those are the sewer pipes that run up the side of our apartment building - Dukes Court.  Elder and Sister Goodson lived on the ground floor and were having water leaks in their flat - both bathroom and kitchen floor.  They moved to the newer apartment building, Oxford 51, and the day after they moved - the pipes were fixed! They are replacing the electrical wires in the whole Area Office.  this is our area and we had to take our computers to another room to work!   Finished product - really looking nice!  More plus and less power bars!   Senior Sisters out to lunch to celebrate Sister Simmons and Sister Fox - we always enjoy our time together! When I made the reservation (booking) I was asked who had the birthdays - then when we
