Pathway Celebration in Lesotho November 26, 2022
On Friday we drove with our Area Manager - Tasara Makasi, to Lesotho. We were invited to a Pathway Completion Ceremony for 25 students in the area. We enjoyed the drive down the nice hotel and especially meeting the students and hearing of their success. This is Sister Nkawsi and her daughter Litsoenio.
District President Selikane, and Elder Tsui who has been organizing and planning
this ceremony for months.
Sister Mokhubu, Sister Matomaneng, Brother Techache, Sister Phoeho, and Sister Dhlokeul - such happy smiles!
Sister Magumela, Sister Seoete, Sister Nkoatsi, and President Seleke.
Sister Traneksile, Sister Sepamo, and Sister Tsiu.
Sister Mottlie, baby Khanya, Sister Sethaki, RS President Lerato Motloi, Leura, President Seleke, and Relebotile, Motloi.
Throwing hats in the air - a few of these students began Pathway in 2019 - they are graduating from BYUI with their Bachelor's degrees! Most have completed the three Pathway Worldwide courses and are ready to go on to Ensign College or BYUI.
It was a meaningful and delightful occasion. Such happy smiles!!
All the students and the dignitaries - Brother Tasara Makasi - from Zimbabwe - he is the Manager of both the Africa Central and Africa South Areas for Pathway. Elder and Sister Smith, Pathway Missionaries, President Jones second counselor in the Mission Presidency,
President District President that conducted the event. We learned that we were going to speak as he announced the program!!
We arrived early at the chapel and the outside was locked. There was an automatic key pad and we knew that the code for our ward was 1830 - we wondered if that would work here ... it did! But the door into the chapel was locked, 'we waited for a while and then two elders came to prepare for a baptism tomorrow. They had the keys! It was funny to see them use the fire hose to clean the font.
Our hotel was on a hill. The GPS about half way up the hill said "turn left". Elder Smith did and the only thing in front of us was a Funeral Home!!! I said: "She thinks we are dead!" We turned around and asked someone and we just needed to drive further up the hill. This is the view from the hotel pool deck - the city of Maseru - the capital city of Lesotho.
Wonderful Poster announcing the event we held today. There were 26 Pathway completers - some who have already earned their Bachelor's degrees! It was a very special Saturday afternoon.
It was delightful to have Tasara to dinner at our house - and afterward attend the Pathway Monday meeting with us! He is usually in his home country of Zimbabwe for that meeting!
This looks super cool!!! Hooray for higher education.
