Late December Events - 2023

 December 26, 2023 was Stan's 50th Birthday!  We celebrated with a Memory Book that all the siblings wrote a memory of Stan - plus pictures of his 'wonderful life'!! It was fun to go back and remember such happy times - and a few sad ones!  Happy Birthday Stanford Harold Smith - you have blessed our lives.

On December 26, Lindsey and I got to hold three day old twins!  The Kocherhans moved into the ward last fall - he actually served as a young missionary with is in Jamaica 2012!  They have an 16 month old daughter and now a newborn boy and girl!!  So precious from Heaven.  Olivia and I are her ministering sisters and she is getting meals from the ward and one hour of help each afternoon - so she can take a shower!!  


Tait, Reid and Zain Fairbanks got this sweet electric car from Santa Claus - they love it so much!  Cute Boys!


New Year's Eve for Old People!  We received this from our senior missionary friends in South Africa.


It was fun to have these beautiful Fromm granddaughters to dinner on New Year's Eve!  They are all wonderful young women and doing good things in the world!!  

On Sunday, December 31, we drove to Orem and attending the Missionary Homecoming of Wayne and Luana Watson.  

This is Elder and Sister Watson - they were approached by Louie, a man we befriended and tried to help when we were in Johannesburg.  He saw their name badges and came right up to them and asked if they knew us.  They paid him to wash their car - and we are glad he is out of rehab!

Senior Couples Give Thanks!

On Saturday, November 27th, all the senior couples got together for a wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner.  So much delicious food and great company!  We made stuffing, deviled eggs and pumpkin cheesecake for our contributions.  Room full of such great senior missionaries!!   Darling Lilly, sleeping on Thanksgiving Day - Sam wanted us to see her cute dress!!   The Mission sewing machine - passed around from senior sister to senior sister - I used it for a week and then it wouldn't work!  We are taking it to a shop for repairs and Elder Smith bought me a new one - Singer basic - Merry Christmas to me! Fun African fabric I found at a local shop - will make great bowl cozies!  We found these cows on the side of the road near our Chapel in Kwa Thema!!  There were these pretty yellow Lily's also on our drive to church.

Area Office

  Sunday October 31, Elder and Sister Elggren drove us to our assigned ward - the Kwa Thelma 2nd ward.  It was Stake Conference and both wards met together - great talks!  Wonderful to meet the people we will be serving on Sundays.  It is about a 40 minute drive from the city - delightful children. The Temple is right next to the Area Offices - all are in a park like setting - an old estate that the Church purchased. View from behind the temple. Our Self Reliance Office

He is really a wonderful manager - his office is right next to ours.  This is a poster we have been working on - the senior couples will take it to their individual chapels this weekend and ask the Bishop/Branch President if they can post it on the bulletin board...hopefully! Elder Smith hard at work! Copy machine in the background - Display behind it...for projects. Sister Smith hardly working!!   Both of our desks - it is nice to be working on this mission together.
