December events, 2023

We purchased a live Oregon pine tree from a place downtown that Lindsey told us about.  It smelled so good and didn't drop many needles at all!  We have only about one third of our decorations on it - we used to get much bigger trees! Most of our ornaments this year are from Jamaica, Russia and South Africa!!  I still have a few stuffed animals and the center of attention is the Olive Wood Nativity set Harold brought back from his trip to Jerusalem. Love the two stars - one Toni Rae Peterson Halladay made for us and the yellow paper one Jennie made as a child when we didn't have one.

Close up of our pretty tree!  Every year we try to get a picture of us by the Christmas Tree!

Reid (4) and Zain (2) were over at our house for a few hours.  I found the Nativity set looking like this! So precious - everyone looking at the Baby Jesus!  Love it and them!!
Our banana leaf Baobab Tree from South Africa all dressed up for Christmas!

On December 14, Sophie drove to our house from Logan.  We took her to the airport to fly to WA for her Christmas Break.  We took care of her car for her while she was gone.  Beautiful Granddaughter!

Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square and Orchestra at Temple Square - Christmas Program, 2023

Polly got four tickets for the Tabernacle Choir Christmas Program - and couldn't use them.  She graciously gave them to us!  We invited two widows in the ward - Leslie Jorgensen and Suzanne Brown and had a wonderful time.  Just as we got to our seats I took this picture of the Conference Center and the selfie of us in the row.  Then I read the program and it asked that no pictures be taken inside!  Oh well - I had already done it!

Me, Suzanne and Leslie - happy smiles! Neither one of them had ever attended in person.  Leslie is our Ward Music and choir director and does a great job!

A kind usher was taking pictures outside of the auditorium.  We all enjoyed the show - it will be broadcast to the public next Christmas season - 2024!

On December 16, Polly and Chris took us to "The Forgotten Carols" at Cottonwood High School.
We had lunch at a great small restaurant near the school - delicious food and great company. I can't find any pictures of the wonderful afternoon - sigh.  I copied this one from the internet!

The composer was at our show!  Michael McLean himself - and he narrated the story.  It was very meaningful since he had health problems this last year, like the story.  Songs and staging was very good.  Always fun to be with Chris and Polly - thanks again!

On December 21, we drove to Salt Lake and visited the Church Giving Machine!  What an amazing thing it is!!  So love the thought of making it so easy to give to others - in Light of the Savior of the World.
