Mother's Day, Office colleagues, Schmeils Farewell luncheon
May 8, 2022 - Mother's Day. We are blessed with great children, grandchildren and awesome mothers and grandmothers!! Elder Smith gave me new pants and a sweater, yellow rose and dinner out! Polly and Chris sent a gift bag with candy, scarf, scented candle, caramel popcorn, etc. Lindsey sent me rick rack for making quilts... and best of all were calls and chats with everyone!
This was in the gift package - delicious fudge!!!
Elder and Sister Schmeil are leaving the Area Presidency to be Mission Presidents in Orlando, Florida. The Area Office manager asked that each employee and missionary take a picture for them, with a sign saying farewell in their native language! Here are our office co-workers who speak Isowato; Philip, Kayapele, Bishop Temba, and Given. Zodwa speaks Zulu. Elder and Sister Smith
Elder and Sister Walston
Elder and Sister Candland
On Friday, May 13th, we had a Senior Missionary Zone Conference. The MTC President and his wife spoke - Elder and Sister Foote. Then Elder and Sister Schmeil, who are leaving soon. Great guidance from wonderful leaders. The MTC President told about when the missionaries arrive - shy, scared, hardly speaking to anyone, etc. Then after their training they are happy, smiling and on fire to change the world!! Elder and Sister Schmeil always have good messages. We had to miss part of the conference with our Pathway meeting - but what we heard was great. Elder Schmeil talked about when he was first made a Seventy - he asked Elder Bednar for some advice. Elder Bednar answered: "Don't get in the way"! This is the Lord's work and He will help you." Every calling we have is to help ourselves and others come unto Christ. They are happy that there are six senior couples already serving in the Orlando Florida Mission - ..." and they know what they are doing!" He ended with telling us about a Church Conference in Madagascar - 1600 people attended. Then another meeting out of Cape Town - 30 people. "The spirit was the same". We had a luncheon in the cafeteria after the meeting.
Pretty quilt, lovely lady! We will miss them - but welcome their replacements!
This is a tribal head scarf that our ward RS gave to all the sisters on Mother's Day! I have been trying to learn how to tie it - and visiting the Family History Center I found this dear sister with the same scarf!
She taught me how and now I'm going to wear it to Church!

This is Noma, she is the director of the kitchen and makes delicious food! It was her birthday and Sister Cleverly brought a cake to celebrate!
Sister Schmeil invited the senior sisters to her house for ice cream! We usually go out to lunch to say farewell - but they are leaving next week to spend 2 weeks in Brazil before heading to Florida. The senior sisters made her a small quilt and she loved it! We love her!! As we were eating she heard Elder Dube walking into his apartment - she opened the door and asked if he would take a picture of us!!Pretty quilt, lovely lady! We will miss them - but welcome their replacements!
