Happy February!



Sister Elggren and TwoMae - the receptionist at the Area Office - with three of her four daughters.  The Elggrens are the Executive Secretary - and leaders of the senior missionaries - great people. TwoMae is a good worker and helps us with deliveries of packages.  
On Saturday February 5th, we drove with the Perkins out to a trade market - we had been there before and there are lots of booths with lots of stuff for sale.  Also food, entertainment, etc.  It had rained heavily the day before and the trade market was not open.  We did have lunch at a café and this play structure was so interesting - just branches joined together and the kids loved climbing all over it.
Also Saturday, February 5th was Del Mortensen's funeral.  this is the Bishop talking - you can see part of the casket with the American Flag on it.
Kate gave a wonderful opening prayer - it was a very nice service and I'm so happy I was able to see it.  Family is Forever!

Senior Couples Give Thanks!

On Saturday, November 27th, all the senior couples got together for a wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner.  So much delicious food and great company!  We made stuffing, deviled eggs and pumpkin cheesecake for our contributions.  Room full of such great senior missionaries!!   Darling Lilly, sleeping on Thanksgiving Day - Sam wanted us to see her cute dress!!   The Mission sewing machine - passed around from senior sister to senior sister - I used it for a week and then it wouldn't work!  We are taking it to a shop for repairs and Elder Smith bought me a new one - Singer basic - Merry Christmas to me! Fun African fabric I found at a local shop - will make great bowl cozies!  We found these cows on the side of the road near our Chapel in Kwa Thema!!  There were these pretty yellow Lily's also on our drive to church.

Area Office

  Sunday October 31, Elder and Sister Elggren drove us to our assigned ward - the Kwa Thelma 2nd ward.  It was Stake Conference and both wards met together - great talks!  Wonderful to meet the people we will be serving on Sundays.  It is about a 40 minute drive from the city - delightful children. The Temple is right next to the Area Offices - all are in a park like setting - an old estate that the Church purchased. View from behind the temple. Our Self Reliance Office

  Brother Philip showing Elder Smith some of the places we have Pathway students.  He has traveled extensively all over the world. He is really a wonderful manager - his office is right next to ours.  This is a poster we have been working on - the senior couples will take it to their individual chapels this weekend and ask the Bishop/Branch President if they can post it on the bulletin board...hopefully! Elder Smith hard at work! Copy machine in the background - Display behind it...for projects. Sister Smith hardly working!!   Both of our desks - it is nice to be working on this mission together.
