October Events


 Jennie and Grace drove to Utah from Bonney Lake, WA.  They picked up Sophie in Logan and we met them at Maddox Steak House in Brigham City.  Loved spending even a few minutes with them!!  Jennie, girls and Heather, and Lindsey were on their way to Las Vegas to see a Chicks Concert!  
There was an event in American Fork that we drove to see.  It was a lifesize replica of Moses Traveling Tabernacle.  Here is a guide telling us about the serpent on the pole - I would have LOOKED!!
Here is the alter where animals were burned as sacrafice - must have been messy! See the Building in the background?  
It was very educational and interesting - and I'm very happy to be born in this day and age!!  But Heavenly Father loves all His children and provides  a way for them to return to Him. 

Our Ward Halloween Party was October 26.  Lindsey and I made the Sound of Music costumes for her family of seven children!  Dan borrowed the 'dress blues' from Chris Williams! 
Dad and I were the oldest there - and had the oldest costumes!  His letter sweater from Corvallis High School - 1960, my Future Homemakers of American sweater - 1963!!  I got the sweet saddle oxford shoes online, the poodle skirt from the dress up box - the dry cleaners did a great job making it look good!  It was a really fun party.

Area Office

  Sunday October 31, Elder and Sister Elggren drove us to our assigned ward - the Kwa Thelma 2nd ward.  It was Stake Conference and both wards met together - great talks!  Wonderful to meet the people we will be serving on Sundays.  It is about a 40 minute drive from the city - delightful children. The Temple is right next to the Area Offices - all are in a park like setting - an old estate that the Church purchased. View from behind the temple. Little lizard on the post of the steps into the office!   Part of the Office buildings - underground parking door in the middle of the picture. The door to our department. Great granddaughter Clementine Jo Romberg - born December 29, 2023

Maddie and Dane had their little girl on December 29, 2023.  What a wonderful way to end the year!! Clementine Jo Romberg - 7 pounds, 21 inches - PERFECT! Maddie is wonder woman - she had the baby at home!  With a midwifes' help!  Yikes!!  She's tired. Beautiful - just from Heaven!!  Emily came over from Denver to be with them a week.  Then Kurt drove the rest over to pick her up and meet darling Clementine!

Happenings in South Africa

  There is a big African Trade Market called Irene's about 35 minutes away from Johannesburg.  It is open only twice a month - the first Saturday and last Saturday of each month.  Saturday, July 30, we invited the Candlands to go with us.  We found the Perkins and Watsons there and we all had a great time.  Here is Sister Watson and Elder Perkins enjoying lunch - see that big platter in front?   Elder Smith bought me an African Apron like these - this is the lady who makes them - they are reversible and I like the bright colors!   On our walks in the mornings we have noticed this plant budding and getter ready to bloom - this morning it was blooming!  The picture doesn't do it justice - it is bright orange!   This big Bird of Paradise plant is on the grounds of the first chapel built in Johannesburg.  The flowers are so pretty, and it's fun for us to know Heidi and Stefan have them in Hawaii!  I've sent postcards with...
