Mortensen's house being built in Hyrum October 2023

 



We are happy when we have the chance to go to Hyrum and help with the crew building their seven houses!  They work on Tues - Wed - Thur  4 - 8:00. Also Saturday 8 - 6.  We usually go on Saturday and work only a couple of hours - we're old! Thje hours help Kate and Ben make their committment of working each week! 
The other families are really nice to work with - they help us a lot.  We have learned so much about building a house!

Some Saturdays they all provide part of a noon lunch.  The Saturday after Thanksgiving Polly and Chris came with us and we had Hawaiian Haystacks. Polly brought the big jug of hot water for chocolate!

Area Office

  Sunday October 31, Elder and Sister Elggren drove us to our assigned ward - the Kwa Thelma 2nd ward.  It was Stake Conference and both wards met together - great talks!  Wonderful to meet the people we will be serving on Sundays.  It is about a 40 minute drive from the city - delightful children. The Temple is right next to the Area Offices - all are in a park like setting - an old estate that the Church purchased. View from behind the temple. Great granddaughter Clementine Jo Romberg - born December 29, 2023

Maddie and Dane had their little girl on December 29, 2023.  What a wonderful way to end the year!! Clementine Jo Romberg - 7 pounds, 21 inches - PERFECT! Maddie is wonder woman - she had the baby at home!  With a midwifes' help!  Yikes!!  She's tired. Beautiful - just from Heaven!!  Emily came over from Denver to be with them a week.  Then Kurt drove the rest over to pick her up and meet darling Clementine!

Our Self Reliance Office

  Brother Philip showing Elder Smith some of the places we have Pathway students.  He has traveled extensively all over the world. He is really a wonderful manager - his office is right next to ours.  This is a poster we have been working on - the senior couples will take it to their individual chapels this weekend and ask the Bishop/Branch President if they can post it on the bulletin board...hopefully! Elder Smith hard at work! Copy machine in the background - Display behind it...for projects. Sister Smith hardly working!!   Both of our desks - it is nice to be working on this mission together.
