Sue comes to Utah May 30 - June 2, 2023

 

Becky and Sue at Becky's house in Logan.  We got together for a short Sister's Retreat and to make a quilt for Derrell and LaNore - Becky saw this "Northern Lights" quilt kit in a store and felt like we should make it for them.   It was a really hard pattern and she ended up calling the creater of it for directions!!

Sue sewing the strips together - she ended up taking what we had done back to CO and finishing the top.  She sent it back to Becky and she got the batting and backing and had it machine quilted.  Then she sent it to me, via KC, and I finished binding the edge.  We had thought of having it for a birthday gift - since Derrell's birthday is Aug 4 and LaNore's Aug 6 - but it ended up not ready so it became a Christmas gift instead!  


Isn't it stunning?  Derrell and LaNore loved it and Becky found one more kit and had us all make one for our cousin Stanley Poole;s family!  What a labor of love!!!  


We had a fun dinner at Becky and Ken's cabin up Logan canyon.  Holly and Savanah with new husband came up also.  Kate, Ben and Anna also.  Always good to spend time with family!

Area Office

  Sunday October 31, Elder and Sister Elggren drove us to our assigned ward - the Kwa Thelma 2nd ward.  It was Stake Conference and both wards met together - great talks!  Wonderful to meet the people we will be serving on Sundays.  It is about a 40 minute drive from the city - delightful children. The Temple is right next to the Area Offices - all are in a park like setting - an old estate that the Church purchased. View from behind the temple. Great granddaughter Clementine Jo Romberg - born December 29, 2023

Maddie and Dane had their little girl on December 29, 2023.  What a wonderful way to end the year!! Clementine Jo Romberg - 7 pounds, 21 inches - PERFECT! Maddie is wonder woman - she had the baby at home!  With a midwifes' help!  Yikes!!  She's tired. Beautiful - just from Heaven!!  Emily came over from Denver to be with them a week.  Then Kurt drove the rest over to pick her up and meet darling Clementine!

Happenings in South Africa

  There is a big African Trade Market called Irene's about 35 minutes away from Johannesburg.  It is open only twice a month - the first Saturday and last Saturday of each month.  Saturday, July 30, we invited the Candlands to go with us.  We found the Perkins and Watsons there and we all had a great time.  Here is Sister Watson and Elder Perkins enjoying lunch - see that big platter in front?   Elder Smith bought me an African Apron like these - this is the lady who makes them - they are reversible and I like the bright colors!   On our walks in the mornings we have noticed this plant budding and getter ready to bloom - this morning it was blooming!  The picture doesn't do it justice - it is bright orange!   This big Bird of Paradise plant is on the grounds of the first chapel built in Johannesburg.  The flowers are so pretty, and it's fun for us to know Heidi and Stefan have them in Hawaii!  I've sent postcards with...
