May 6, 2023 - Moving Day!

 


Harold and Eli and the storage shed in Spanish Fork - full of all our 'stuff'!  We were grateful for the Fairbanks and the Kroeber's help to get our things to Bountiful!  
Here Olivia is hauling out a night stand, Sadie and Keenyn are gong back for more!  Gotta love these grandchildren!!

Dan loading the Service Master Trailer - which has moved us multiple times!!!  Thanks so much for all the help everyone!! 

We have never had our things so dusty as this move. The storage shed was next to the freeway and we think that is what caused an inch or so of dust!  Dan brought a blower and that helped.  As we unloaded, he had the girls wipe all the furniture with a special spray that helped more!  


Our new house to put our 'home' into!  Best part - it is around the corner from the Fairbanks!  The yard needs Harold's good skills!

Tait ready to play T-ball!  So fun to live near and be involved in grandchildren's lives and activities.

Area Office

  Sunday October 31, Elder and Sister Elggren drove us to our assigned ward - the Kwa Thelma 2nd ward.  It was Stake Conference and both wards met together - great talks!  Wonderful to meet the people we will be serving on Sundays.  It is about a 40 minute drive from the city - delightful children. The Temple is right next to the Area Offices - all are in a park like setting - an old estate that the Church purchased. View from behind the temple. Little lizard on the post of the steps into the office!   Part of the Office buildings - underground parking door in the middle of the picture. The door to our department. Desk in front is Elder Smith's - mine just behind it.  Further on is the Humanitarian couple's office. Interesting poster in another hallway.

Great granddaughter Clementine Jo Romberg - born December 29, 2023

Maddie and Dane had their little girl on December 29, 2023.  What a wonderful way to end the year!! Clementine Jo Romberg - 7 pounds, 21 inches - PERFECT! Maddie is wonder woman - she had the baby at home!  With a midwifes' help!  Yikes!!  She's tired. Beautiful - just from Heaven!!  Emily came over from Denver to be with them a week.  Then Kurt drove the rest over to pick her up and meet darling Clementine!

Happenings in South Africa

  There is a big African Trade Market called Irene's about 35 minutes away from Johannesburg.  It is open only twice a month - the first Saturday and last Saturday of each month.  Saturday, July 30, we invited the Candlands to go with us.  We found the Perkins and Watsons there and we all had a great time.  Here is Sister Watson and Elder Perkins enjoying lunch - see that big platter in front?   Elder Smith bought me an African Apron like these - this is the lady who makes them - they are reversible and I like the bright colors!   On our walks in the mornings we have noticed this plant budding and getter ready to bloom - this morning it was blooming!  The picture doesn't do it justice - it is bright orange!   This big Bird of Paradise plant is on the grounds of the first chapel built in Johannesburg.  The flowers are so pretty, and it's fun for us to know Heidi and Stefan have them in Hawaii!  I've sent postcards with...
