Even More delight and education in Hawaii

 



This is the amazing view from the deck of Stefan and Heidi's house!  It is so beautiful to begin your day eating breakfast on this deck - with this view! 




At a Hawaiian Historical place we learned so much. This is one of the old thatch houses - well I guess palm leaves more than thatch.  So interesting. 


The Aboriginal people we think were not very intelligent - but they were!!  

Wonderful weather for the rest of the week - a little rainy on our temple day.  Such a pretty view everywhere!!
This is the Queen's Palace on Kona - it is always interesting to see the real old buildings and hear about the people living in them. 
Guides were amazing - course they tell their stories every day.   We sure enjoyed our time in Hawaii - so happy many of the family have been able to visit while Heidi and Stefan lived there.

Area Office

  Sunday October 31, Elder and Sister Elggren drove us to our assigned ward - the Kwa Thelma 2nd ward.  It was Stake Conference and both wards met together - great talks!  Wonderful to meet the people we will be serving on Sundays.  It is about a 40 minute drive from the city - delightful children. The Temple is right next to the Area Offices - all are in a park like setting - an old estate that the Church purchased. View from behind the temple. Little lizard on the post of the steps into the office!   Part of the Office buildings - underground parking door in the middle of the picture. The door to our department. Desk in front is Elder Smith's - mine just behind it.  Further on is the Humanitarian couple's office. Interesting poster in another hallway.

Great granddaughter Clementine Jo Romberg - born December 29, 2023

Maddie and Dane had their little girl on December 29, 2023.  What a wonderful way to end the year!! Clementine Jo Romberg - 7 pounds, 21 inches - PERFECT! Maddie is wonder woman - she had the baby at home!  With a midwifes' help!  Yikes!!  She's tired. Beautiful - just from Heaven!!  Emily came over from Denver to be with them a week.  Then Kurt drove the rest over to pick her up and meet darling Clementine!

Happenings in South Africa

  There is a big African Trade Market called Irene's about 35 minutes away from Johannesburg.  It is open only twice a month - the first Saturday and last Saturday of each month.  Saturday, July 30, we invited the Candlands to go with us.  We found the Perkins and Watsons there and we all had a great time.  Here is Sister Watson and Elder Perkins enjoying lunch - see that big platter in front?   Elder Smith bought me an African Apron like these - this is the lady who makes them - they are reversible and I like the bright colors!   On our walks in the mornings we have noticed this plant budding and getter ready to bloom - this morning it was blooming!  The picture doesn't do it justice - it is bright orange!   This big Bird of Paradise plant is on the grounds of the first chapel built in Johannesburg.  The flowers are so pretty, and it's fun for us to know Heidi and Stefan have them in Hawaii!  I've sent postcards with...
