Russian Missionaries come to Johannesburg
On Tuesday, December 13, we had Temple patrons come from Russia. Elder Ustyuzhsninov, his wife and three elders and three sisters. They came for their own endowments and to do some family work. The Temple just opened that day from four months of remodeling. Elder Smith and I were asked to help out in the Family History Center - the Walter's were out of town.
Here are the 8 Russians diligently searching for family names to take for baptisms!
Elder Smith at the end of the row helping the sisters...one was searching for her grandmother who died last year and she wanted to do the work. When the name was found it had the married surname and it was about 20 minutes of working to get the maiden name on it - miracle!
Elder Ustyuzhaninov helping - he is the Russian Mission President and also a Counselor in the Europe East Area Presidency - wonderful man. Sisters are: Olga Gorlova, Arianna Ignatova, and Vera Ignatyera.
Here we are with the young volunteers and Elder Ustyuzhaninov. We met him in 2018 when he was the District President and we did an auditing training. He remembered us!!
Here are the wonderful leaders and all the missionaries (volunteers) in the first group of Russians who came to Johannesburg to the Temple. It was great to have them - and fun to hear Russian being spoken again. Many of them were very good in English, especially Elder U and his wife.
