Greatest Christmas Gift - and Miscellaneous

Emilee sent us 25 individual envelopes about three weeks ago.  They each had a date - Open on Dec. 5th, etc. - missing was the Dec. 24th one - hopefully it will show up sometime!  On the November 30 envelope it said -Open first!  She had complied memories from all the children on each page!  I really wondered what she had sent that we could open each day until Christmas!  We have loved doing it for 6 days now - memories of camping, Special Olympics, sports, FHE, trips with Dad, sooo fun!
Here are all the envelopes on our table - along with the Nov. 30th one.  We are putting them each in a plastic sleeve and compiling a wonderful Memory Book for the month!  The best gift ever is the love and support we feel from our children, their spouses and our grandchildren - and our brothers and sisters!  Merry Christmas to all!!
Elder Smith doing the dishes by lantern light - the power has been going out for 2 or 4 hours each day lately.  We have an App on the phone that tells us when it is scheduled - not always accurate but at least gives us notice.  ":Load Shedding beginning in 50 minutes!" We have two of these bright LED lanterns and you can read by them!
One of the Christmas Trees at the Rosebank Mall - all Disney Character stuffed figures! The influence of the USA is all over the world - well - at least in Jamaica, Russia and South Africa!
We took these pictures at the outdoor market where we found Nativity lanterns for our Children's Christmas package - shadow boxes.  The shop has so many - we were given one last year by another senior couple - ours has a Christmas Tree and Merry Christmas on each panel.

Here are the three red Santa Bags that have the toys for the Care Haven Shelter children.  The brown sack has the extra toys donated by Sister Fox.
Here are the toys all laid out so I can put them in plastic bags with the name of the child on it - someone made all the crocheted animals!  On the floor at the far left are bottles of nail polish and lip gloss for the older girls.  Coloring books and crayons, cars and trucks, games and puzzles!  Love doing Sub for Santa!

This small newspaper is sold on the streets by homeless people.  It is only 5 Rand (26 cents) USD.  I miss reading a newspaper so we purchase one every now and then - plus the seller on a street near our apartment building is always smiling and waving to people.

In the last week of November when we bought the paper - this was in the back section!  So cool!  We had given him a pass-a-long card earlier - but after this gave him a Book of Mormon!  We think it is funny that the other book featured is about the Bible not being correct!!

This small magnet set is on our fridge -I love decorating each room with the Nativity scene - when we have a larger house - each room has decorations of the Nativity!
Sister Goodson shared this picture on our seniors WhatsApp group - the sunset from her balcony at Oxford 51 - were all the other senior couples live now.  We like our Duke's Court apartment better so we will stay there as long as we can.  The church is trying to sell the Duke's Court flats - so we may not last until April.
