Cape Town - Table Mountain December 19, 2022
Our Christmas Gift to each other this year was a mini vacation to Cape Town, South Africa. On Monday, December 19th we flew from Johannesburg and arrived just after noon. We stayed at the Marriott Hotel, Crystal City - right in downtown. Other senior couples had informed us to hire a church member as a guide. Brother Bowrie was amazing. His family were pioneers in the church in the area and he was a retired National Gardens scientists who shared his knowledge with us. Cape Town is called the Mother City of South Africa - it was settled in 1652 by the Dutch - Jon van Reidel. They wanted to service their sailing ships that were going around the Cape of Good Hope.
Other pretty flowers - the weather was great. Sometimes the mountain wears a 'tabblecloth' - cloud cover and bad weather closes the tram. We were blessed with three days of beautiful weather!
These flowers were so pretty - I didn't get a picture of the real ones but I found this poster - neat view of the valley behind them, and Lion's rock.
Another great view - there were hiking trails up the whole mountain - and some people hiking them!
One tram leaves as another is coming up - pretty cool!
Seeing Lion's rock and party of the city and the ocean! And two old people really enjoying it all! Elder Smith wasn't sure about the tram at first - he doesn't like heights! He was glad I talked him into it!!
