Quilting in Kwa-Thema
Our Ward YSA have a conference coming up the end of this week Sept 9 - 11th. They have been fundraising for two months to pay for it. They held a car wash and we were the only car that showed up to be washed! We paid them enough money for ten cars. Not many members have cars and even less have the funds to pay to have it washed! I made baggies of brownies, cookies and peanut butter bars that they sold - or ate! I told them to.
They next started washing blankets by hand for members. I don't know how much they charged but they raised about 1000R doing that! Then I thought of the quilt that I was going to tie in my living room - and offered to pay them to tie it for me. They were happy to do that. Only three showed up that Saturday but they learned a lot and did a good job!
Fransicso, Noxuma, and Moungana were fun to teach and help them learn! I was proud of them.
Elder Smith also helped a great deal - especially rolling the ends.
Notice our creative corners - nice to have that hole in the chairs that the boards fit through!
Wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning - service project!
