Elder Smith has a Birthday!

 

September 15, 2022 - 80 years after Elder Smith was born - September 15, 1942!  I think we look pretty good for being officially OLD!
Handsome and kind, fun and hard working - love this Elder so much!

Sister Goodson and Sister Perkins setting up the Ruth Room for our Senior Devotional (Zone Conference).  Elder Dube was the key note speaker and the lunch afterward was rice, salad, beef stroganoff and roasted vegetables.  Our kitchen is closed for remodeling, so it was catered.
Both of these lovely ladies are on our Seniors Activity Committee - we have a great time at activities.  This activity was first scheduled for September 9th, but changed to the 15th.  I offered to bring birthday cakes because it was Elder Smith's 80th birthday!  We brought chocolate black forest, white fondant and chocolate mousse - all delicious!
Elder Smith on the morning of his birthday - all the loot from kids and grandkids!! He felt very loved!
Thanks to all - phone calls, texts, money deposited, letters and cards - and amazing gift boxes !!

  Sunday October 31, Elder and Sister Elggren drove us to our assigned ward - the Kwa Thelma 2nd ward.  It was Stake Conference and both wards met together - great talks!  Wonderful to meet the people we will be serving on Sundays.  It is about a 40 minute drive from the city - delightful children. The Temple is right next to the Area Offices - all are in a park like setting - an old estate that the Church purchased. View from behind the temple. Great granddaughter Clementine Jo Romberg - born December 29, 2023

Maddie and Dane had their little girl on December 29, 2023.  What a wonderful way to end the year!! Clementine Jo Romberg - 7 pounds, 21 inches - PERFECT! Maddie is wonder woman - she had the baby at home!  With a midwifes' help!  Yikes!!  She's tired. Beautiful - just from Heaven!!  Emily came over from Denver to be with them a week.  Then Kurt drove the rest over to pick her up and meet darling Clementine!

Our Self Reliance Office

  Brother Philip showing Elder Smith some of the places we have Pathway students.  He has traveled extensively all over the world. He is really a wonderful manager - his office is right next to ours.  This is a poster we have been working on - the senior couples will take it to their individual chapels this weekend and ask the Bishop/Branch President if they can post it on the bulletin board...hopefully! Elder Smith hard at work! Copy machine in the background - Display behind it...for projects. Sister Smith hardly working!!   Both of our desks - it is nice to be working on this mission together.
