These people were here to go to the Temple - they came into the office and said they were both Pathway students and could they have tee shirts and hats? Of course - don't they look great?  they got some for their husbands also and said they would wear them at the airport when they flew back to Mozambique! 
This is a close up of the 'Fairie garden' that is in the middle of the small park we walk through in the mornings.  I love that no one has stolen the trinkets!  
Silver bells strung between branches - so cute!  It makes me smile when we walk by each weekday.

August 9th is National Women's Day here - this is a small quilt for one of the new Counselors wife.. also making another one for the other sister - welcome to South Africa to them!
Sister Watson sent a picture of a quilt we had made to a friend in Utah.  That friend is having health problems and wrote her back that seeing those pretty colors made her happy.  So we made her a quilt.
Thanks to Lindsey and Sister Dube for the white eyelet lace!  This was made with lots of love for Lilly's new little sister!!
Made in South Africa!  With lots of love to a new granddaughter to be born in Anchorage!

Area Office

  Sunday October 31, Elder and Sister Elggren drove us to our assigned ward - the Kwa Thelma 2nd ward.  It was Stake Conference and both wards met together - great talks!  Wonderful to meet the people we will be serving on Sundays.  It is about a 40 minute drive from the city - delightful children. The Temple is right next to the Area Offices - all are in a park like setting - an old estate that the Church purchased. View from behind the temple. Little lizard on the post of the steps into the office!   Part of the Office buildings - underground parking door in the middle of the picture. The door to our department. Desk in front is Elder Smith's - mine just behind it.  Further on is the Humanitarian couple's office. Interesting poster in another hallway.

Great granddaughter Clementine Jo Romberg - born December 29, 2023

Maddie and Dane had their little girl on December 29, 2023.  What a wonderful way to end the year!! Clementine Jo Romberg - 7 pounds, 21 inches - PERFECT! Maddie is wonder woman - she had the baby at home!  With a midwifes' help!  Yikes!!  She's tired. Beautiful - just from Heaven!!  Emily came over from Denver to be with them a week.  Then Kurt drove the rest over to pick her up and meet darling Clementine!

Happenings in South Africa

  There is a big African Trade Market called Irene's about 35 minutes away from Johannesburg.  It is open only twice a month - the first Saturday and last Saturday of each month.  Saturday, July 30, we invited the Candlands to go with us.  We found the Perkins and Watsons there and we all had a great time.  Here is Sister Watson and Elder Perkins enjoying lunch - see that big platter in front?   Elder Smith bought me an African Apron like these - this is the lady who makes them - they are reversible and I like the bright colors!   On our walks in the mornings we have noticed this plant budding and getter ready to bloom - this morning it was blooming!  The picture doesn't do it justice - it is bright orange!   This big Bird of Paradise plant is on the grounds of the first chapel built in Johannesburg.  The flowers are so pretty, and it's fun for us to know Heidi and Stefan have them in Hawaii!  I've sent postcards with...
