Botswana visit - June 16 - 19, 2022

On Thursday, June 16 we drove from Johannesburg to Gaborone, Botswama.  We had our PW gathering that evening at 8 and it worked great from the Hotel!  Then Friday morning 10 -we had our other one - it also went well.  We stayed at the Protea Marriott Hotel -suite, breakfast included.

We had a Pathway Devotional scheduled for Saturday, June 18th at 1:00 pm.  After the morning gathering we set the GPS for the Stake Center and headed out to find where we needed to be the next day.  It was about halfway there when the wifi went out!  We made it okay but got lost coming back.  We drove the streets for an hour before Elder Smith recognized a corner and we found the hotel! Here I am with two of the great people who came for the meeting.  About 9 when we started - 23 when we ended!  We gave out pens, masks, and phone holders.

The parking lot of the Stake Center - two wards meet here - we came back to Church on Sunday - Father's Day - we were asked to share out testimonies!  Great saints here!
As we drove in the missionaries came right behind us!  There were three of them and they had a youth activity planned for outside - the same as we had our devotional inside.  Elders Hoggan, Louder, and Stoddard, from Grand Junction, Ceder Hills and Fort Collins - they had a good time playing with the youth and Elder Hoggan asked me to send him pictures.
Elder Hoggan with two young sisters who came.  They liked the Pathway pens we gave them. I had given a Pass a long card to our waitress the evening before - she asked if she could come to " this church"!  She gave us her name and phone number - then I remember I had a South African phone and couldn't call her - I gave her info to Elder Hoggan and he did call!
More fun at the hoop!
Two young men in the background playing soccer!
It was a pretty day - a little cool.  We enjoyed our presentation and had some really good questions.  The Stake President was so supportive and told the audience "You don't have any excuses to not do this program!  Pathway has been in South Africa 5 years, in Botswana only 2!!
We drove back 'home' after church - long and uneventful drive - it takes about an hour to cross the border between the two countries - just not very efficient.  Nice to get away and relax a little!

Saturday afternoon we explored a little bit around our hotel.  This restaurant was called Prime and it was a happening place!  So loud and fun!  This table near ours had a birthday celebration!
Good salmon and beef steak!  It was a good trip - we are glad to live in Johannesburg!
