Tuesday early morning game drive - May 3rd, 2022

On our early morning drive Tuesday, May 3rd - we saw so many animals.  Here is a herd of zebra and blue wildebeest - we would just drive slowly and they would eventually leave the road!

A cape water buffalo and zebra drinking at a smaller water hole.  There had been some heavy rains and filled up these small holes for the animals.
I think there are kudu's in the bushes.  Elder Perkins had binoculars and was all the time finding animals very far away!

More kudu's I think - we did see a momma and baby.
This is the large male - Dad of the family.  Interesting tall twisted horns.  The difference between antlers and horns - antlers are cartilage - like finger nails. They grow and fall off and grow larger ones.  Horns are bone and just keep growing larger and larger as the animal ages.
Impala on the road - they are also curious and would stare at us - while we were staring at them!

Some birds nests in a tree over the water in another small water hole.
This is where we had our morning snacks!  Hot chocolate and cookies - and large animals so close!
Large herd of water buffalo - they run pretty fast!
Beautiful sunrise - we got a wake up call at 5:30 and the game ride began at 6:00.  It was cold so we wore layers and hats - and the jitney had wool blankets on all the seats. We have such an amazing world to take care of.
