Monday afternoon Game Ride
Monday afternoon at 4:00 pm was the first of our four game rides. Our guide was Lazarus - and he was amazing. We drove on and off road and saw so much. He is very knowledgeable about the animals and the plants. Here notice the big nests on top of the power poles. He told us what kind of bird builds them.
This is the view from the second seat - the Perkins were in the front seat and we were in the second one. With dirt toads and a driver who would take off road we held on! There are Blue wildebeest in front of us.
More wildebeest - they were in herds for the most part. Some little ones and mothers, some big males.
A lone giraffe in the natural world - the game preserve is over 80 hectares - lost of room to roam!
Zebra herd - they are curious and would come up to the truck. They can't be ridden like a horse, their back is too weak.
A small elephant family - so close the the road!
We stopped and watched them eat for a while - amazing animals. You should read the book The Elephant Whisperer! They are smart and loyal and have great sense of smell...not so much vision.
Our guide Lazarus telling about the rules at the start of the drive. No standing up, phone on silent, do not leave the truck! etc.
