Madikwe Game Reserve

On Monday, May 2nd, Elder and Sister Perkins drove with us to Madikwe Game Reserve.  It is about 4 and a half hours from Johannesburg - north to the Botswana border!  Other senior couples had recommended it and we had a great time.  This is the natural watering hole right outside the lodge.  The deck where we ate our meals was right at the side of the watering hole.  When we had just arrived and were checking in - we noticed 5 giraffes walking on the other side of the pond.  As we ate lunch we saw these zebra and Waterbuck - and impala!
Here I am on the small deck of our cabin - see how close the pond is and the animals on the other side?
Elder Smith on the lunch desk - notice the weaver bird nest in the top right hand side of the picture - and all the elephants on the other side of the water - we counted 18 - all sizes.

Closer look at the large herd of elephants - amazing.
Elephants coming toward the water.

See the floating log in the middle of the top of the picture - it is an crocodile!  We are sitting on the deck eating lunch and Elder Smith pointed it out to us - awesome!
Again from the lunch deck, a giraffe coming to drink.  They walk very gracefully but look very awkward getting a drink of water!
