Johannesburg Botanical Gardens Hike

 

On Saturday, April 2nd, Elder and Sister Swift invited us to hike with them at the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens.  We had gone one other time and enjoyed it so we were happy to go again.  This tree branch had been pushed horizontal =but the branched still grew up to the sun!

We hiked by this big pond - many birds and flowers - even though it is getting into fall weather here.
Many people walk their dogs at this park - - and Sister Swift says she is alway glad to come and watch the 'happy dogs'!!
Small creek that runs near the trails we were on.  It is nice to hike the dirt paths, last time we came it had rained and they were too muddy - we had to stay on 'tar' trails.
Some of the people we met and talked to - Sister Swift liked to pet the dogs - and ask what their names were - I liked to talk to the people!

  Sunday October 31, Elder and Sister Elggren drove us to our assigned ward - the Kwa Thelma 2nd ward.  It was Stake Conference and both wards met together - great talks!  Wonderful to meet the people we will be serving on Sundays.  It is about a 40 minute drive from the city - delightful children. The Temple is right next to the Area Offices - all are in a park like setting - an old estate that the Church purchased. View from behind the temple. Great granddaughter Clementine Jo Romberg - born December 29, 2023

Maddie and Dane had their little girl on December 29, 2023.  What a wonderful way to end the year!! Clementine Jo Romberg - 7 pounds, 21 inches - PERFECT! Maddie is wonder woman - she had the baby at home!  With a midwifes' help!  Yikes!!  She's tired. Beautiful - just from Heaven!!  Emily came over from Denver to be with them a week.  Then Kurt drove the rest over to pick her up and meet darling Clementine!

Our Self Reliance Office

  Brother Philip showing Elder Smith some of the places we have Pathway students.  He has traveled extensively all over the world. He is really a wonderful manager - his office is right next to ours.  This is a poster we have been working on - the senior couples will take it to their individual chapels this weekend and ask the Bishop/Branch President if they can post it on the bulletin board...hopefully! Elder Smith hard at work! Copy machine in the background - Display behind it...for projects. Sister Smith hardly working!!   Both of our desks - it is nice to be working on this mission together.
