Johannesburg Zoo
On Saturday, February 26, we visited the Johannesburg Zoo. Here are white Rhinos in the middle and deer in the front - some birds at the far left. It was interesting but after seeing animals in the game parks not as authentic!
Such amazing animals - glad there are steps being taken to protect them. We heard of two that were poached inside Kruger National Park last week!!
More of the zoo. It covers about 40 acres and they rent golf carts for old people to drive around! We walked!! Actually we walked from our apartment down to the zoo - it is in our neighborhood and we walk past it a couple times each week. This Peacock had his tail all out and pretty - until I took a picture!
These little ground squirrels were all over the rhinos area - so funny! Huge animals and they little ones.
Rhino with peacock in the picture.
Howler monkeys - we hear them in the mornings as we walk around the neighborhood.
The biggest elephant they have - there are two others.
The elephant area - the large one on the hill and one of the other ones to the right between the two poles.
Otter enjoying the sunshine!
The gorilla was very far away - so we took a picture of his outline and this old lady!
