Random happenings - South African style

 

On one of our walks in the mornings we found this tree stump - being eaten by termites!
Anyone for Ostrich meat?  One of the other senior couples told us it is pretty good - not sure I'll ever try it!  I guess it is a big chicken, huh?
Swiss chard for sale!  We raised this in our garden when I was a child and each year raising our children.  We've never seen it for sale commercially!  I may have to try it!
One of the cats that live at the Area Office - the grounds workers feed them.
Mother Natures power - see the sidewalk being raised by the root growing underneath?
We found this Quote by Elder Holland as we were leaning out some file drawers in our office - love it!

    I'm with you when it comes to the ostrich meat. The tree truck sidewalk is amazing.

  Sunday October 31, Elder and Sister Elggren drove us to our assigned ward - the Kwa Thelma 2nd ward.  It was Stake Conference and both wards met together - great talks!  Wonderful to meet the people we will be serving on Sundays.  It is about a 40 minute drive from the city - delightful children. The Temple is right next to the Area Offices - all are in a park like setting - an old estate that the Church purchased. View from behind the temple. Great granddaughter Clementine Jo Romberg - born December 29, 2023

Maddie and Dane had their little girl on December 29, 2023.  What a wonderful way to end the year!! Clementine Jo Romberg - 7 pounds, 21 inches - PERFECT! Maddie is wonder woman - she had the baby at home!  With a midwifes' help!  Yikes!!  She's tired. Beautiful - just from Heaven!!  Emily came over from Denver to be with them a week.  Then Kurt drove the rest over to pick her up and meet darling Clementine!

Our Self Reliance Office

  Brother Philip showing Elder Smith some of the places we have Pathway students.  He has traveled extensively all over the world. He is really a wonderful manager - his office is right next to ours.  This is a poster we have been working on - the senior couples will take it to their individual chapels this weekend and ask the Bishop/Branch President if they can post it on the bulletin board...hopefully! Elder Smith hard at work! Copy machine in the background - Display behind it...for projects. Sister Smith hardly working!!   Both of our desks - it is nice to be working on this mission together.
