Random Happenings

December and we have a Christmas Tree!  Polly sent it with us - wrapped up for Dec. 1st!  We love it and the small size is perfect for our flat!!  We bought the lights and put them around our kitchen window - Jesus is the Light of the World!!  We took cookies over to our neighbors this evening.  They are so interesting.  They are four generations South Africans - from India originally, a mother and daughter.  The mother was a teacher but is retired, the daughter teaches mathematics at Witts University.  Her father died when she was little and she has no siblings...just the two of them. They were very gracious and we are anxious to get to know them better.  They have been to San Francisco, Los Angels and New York.
Walking this morning we saw these cactus blooms!

Also these weird (Dr. Suess) trees!  It has rained at least every other day this whole week.  Lots of flowers and interesting plants.
Fun clock one of the other senior couples shared  - when they say 'now', it is later than 'just now'!!  you can also see 'now, now' - that is even later!!
Elder Smith planting tomatoes on our balcony!
We should be eating from our plants in  75 - 100 days!
We took this picture to share with our Thai friend Ploy!
Then we needed to add this sign from the Fish and Chips place - a Russian - sausage we think!
This was in the Mall - Polly Potter's Toy Store!!! We sent this to our Polly and she liked it!
This is the US Consulate.  We had to go there this week to get our passports renewed.  Our director said we didn't have enough pages left in our old ones.  Apparently we get to travel to other countries when this covid business in all over!!  It was nice to see the Stars and Stripes!  and be on US soil if for just a few minutes!!

  1. Dad is quite the farmer. I bet your tomatoes are going to be yummy. Are the same varieties in South Africa?

I thought the same thing about the trees, they look like Dr. Suess drew them.
