More Sub for Santa Fun!

The girls table has a nice package of nail polish, stickers, plus coloring books, notebooks and crayons or colored pencils. 
Also a new pair of pants or leggings, matching shirt and head band.  Sister Martin spent a whole day in the office matching colors, sizes and putting a headband around the outfit. 
Girls also got a package of new underwear- they knew the ages of the children and their sizes. 
The girls also received the same hygiene essentials as the boys.

Wonderful senior couples - all loving the opportunity to serve children as the Savior would want us to. 
We all brought snacks and board games for after the service project - yummy!  
Elder and Sister Martin also had ordered pizza for everyone - delicious.  It was an amazing activity and everyone really enjoyed it.  The 'hand over' will be in two weeks, on a Sunday.  Not our choice but I think the Savior would approve!! I did fine filling the bag for a boy 13, and another one 12.  The first girl I got was 12 also.  Then the last bag I was privileged to fill was for a 9 year old girl.  That made me cry a little!!   Merry Christmas to all!

Area Office

  Sunday October 31, Elder and Sister Elggren drove us to our assigned ward - the Kwa Thelma 2nd ward.  It was Stake Conference and both wards met together - great talks!  Wonderful to meet the people we will be serving on Sundays.  It is about a 40 minute drive from the city - delightful children. The Temple is right next to the Area Offices - all are in a park like setting - an old estate that the Church purchased. View from behind the temple. Great granddaughter Clementine Jo Romberg - born December 29, 2023

Maddie and Dane had their little girl on December 29, 2023.  What a wonderful way to end the year!! Clementine Jo Romberg - 7 pounds, 21 inches - PERFECT! Maddie is wonder woman - she had the baby at home!  With a midwifes' help!  Yikes!!  She's tired. Beautiful - just from Heaven!!  Emily came over from Denver to be with them a week.  Then Kurt drove the rest over to pick her up and meet darling Clementine!

Happenings in South Africa

  There is a big African Trade Market called Irene's about 35 minutes away from Johannesburg.  It is open only twice a month - the first Saturday and last Saturday of each month.  Saturday, July 30, we invited the Candlands to go with us.  We found the Perkins and Watsons there and we all had a great time.  Here is Sister Watson and Elder Perkins enjoying lunch - see that big platter in front?   Elder Smith bought me an African Apron like these - this is the lady who makes them - they are reversible and I like the bright colors!   On our walks in the mornings we have noticed this plant budding and getter ready to bloom - this morning it was blooming!  The picture doesn't do it justice - it is bright orange!   This big Bird of Paradise plant is on the grounds of the first chapel built in Johannesburg.  The flowers are so pretty, and it's fun for us to know Heidi and Stefan have them in Hawaii!  I've sent postcards with...
