First Game Ride

A White Rhino with a young one, walking right in front of the Jitney !
See how close the car is to that massive beast?  They cut off the end of the horns to discourage poaching.
African wildebeests - the first animals we saw on the afternoon game ride. Most of the animals are pretty far away from the road but fun to see them.
See the small berries on the branches?  The elephant eats the whole branch of leaves, the guide called the berries - raisons!  He stopped near some and grabbed a couple of branches for all of us to taste... not bad!
The first elephant we saw on the game ride.  Actually in driving to the Park Elder Smith noticed a couple of big bull elephants between the road the the fence of the Park. This one was much closer.
Other pictures of the lone elephant - the guide said it was an adult male - that had left the herd.

This is how the road looked heading out - notice the tall fence along the right side. The park is huge, and the animals have tons of natural habitat to roam in - but they need to have a fence also!
Another picture of the wildebeests -  just eating their green grass!
The Perkins and Smiths before the first game ride!

  1. What an amazing experience! Did the guide say why the elephant left the herd?
