December Fun continues!

Elder Smith has been watching Zoom tutorials all day ... Lindsey in 20 minutes taught him more!  Thank Lindsey for all your help!!
All this technology is hard to learn for us ... but we will continue trying and the Lord will help us!!
On Tuesday, December 7th - a few of the senior couples went to the Church Warehouse to distribute the November Liahona - the General Conference Issue.  Here is Sister. Perkins, Sister Elggren, and Elder and Sister Twitchell - he is hiding behind his wife!  The pallet on the right is all the cartons of 60 issues each.

Sister Elggren, counting out magazines, Sister Twitchell loading them into boxes, Sister Forsyth labeling the boxes - we get all the mail for the whole South Africa Area!  We sent the Liahona to each Mission and each Stake/District in our area - over 7000 in two hours!  Sister Perkins and I were on the other table - I counted out the magazines into stacks of 5 each, all the quantities were in 20, 15, 35, 55, ect. so Sister Perkins would just load what I had counted.
Several of the couples are going to be traveling over Christmas,  Three of them have brought us Christmas gifts - everyone is so nice. I'm almost finished with the Bowl Cozies to give to them!

 We got online to check out the Pilanesberg Game Preserve that the Perkins and we are going to tomorrow - this is one of the pictures on their website - yikes!  We will be at the Black Rhino Lodge for Thursday night - early morning game ride in their jitney!  Stay tuned!!

Area Office

  Sunday October 31, Elder and Sister Elggren drove us to our assigned ward - the Kwa Thelma 2nd ward.  It was Stake Conference and both wards met together - great talks!  Wonderful to meet the people we will be serving on Sundays.  It is about a 40 minute drive from the city - delightful children. The Temple is right next to the Area Offices - all are in a park like setting - an old estate that the Church purchased. View from behind the temple. Great granddaughter Clementine Jo Romberg - born December 29, 2023

Maddie and Dane had their little girl on December 29, 2023.  What a wonderful way to end the year!! Clementine Jo Romberg - 7 pounds, 21 inches - PERFECT! Maddie is wonder woman - she had the baby at home!  With a midwifes' help!  Yikes!!  She's tired. Beautiful - just from Heaven!!  Emily came over from Denver to be with them a week.  Then Kurt drove the rest over to pick her up and meet darling Clementine!

Happenings in South Africa

  There is a big African Trade Market called Irene's about 35 minutes away from Johannesburg.  It is open only twice a month - the first Saturday and last Saturday of each month.  Saturday, July 30, we invited the Candlands to go with us.  We found the Perkins and Watsons there and we all had a great time.  Here is Sister Watson and Elder Perkins enjoying lunch - see that big platter in front?   Elder Smith bought me an African Apron like these - this is the lady who makes them - they are reversible and I like the bright colors!   On our walks in the mornings we have noticed this plant budding and getter ready to bloom - this morning it was blooming!  The picture doesn't do it justice - it is bright orange!   This big Bird of Paradise plant is on the grounds of the first chapel built in Johannesburg.  The flowers are so pretty, and it's fun for us to know Heidi and Stefan have them in Hawaii!  I've sent postcards with...
