Training with Brother Tasara Makasi
On Thursday, November 11th, we had a wonderful day of training with our Director - Brother Tasara Makasi. He is from Zimbabwe and was the Mission President there until last July. We learned so much and it made us even more excited to serve the people here. Our goal is to double the enrollments in Pathway from our Africa South Area!! We have 980 students now - so we are shooting for 2,000!! With the Lord's help we can do this! Pathway began in 2009 with 50 students - Pathway worldwide began in 2017 and now has over 50,000 students in 150+ countries and all 50 states!!
The totally inspired program is so impressive ... Brother Makasi told us that later this month he is traveling to Gabon, and Rwanda to begin Pathway there.
What great Priesthood leaders we have here! We went out to lunch at a historical house turned into a restaurant. Brother Makasi had lived here for five years, he was over Seminaries and Institutes for the Area. We are happy to have his wisdom and direction in our work here.
Our Communications Department has just published this My Standards booklet - same size as the USA Strength of Youth one. They made it non-denominational so they could share it with other groups here.
We really like the pictures and the directions given to the youth of how to be happy and successful in their lives.
Isn't that great? It is different from our other missions - to serve in the Area Office and work with all the other departments of the Church here. Family History, Church History, Legal, Communications, etc. Self Reliance had a wonderful event yesterday - Elder Rasband was here to check on a hospital project that involved Humanitarian giving infant respirators and pumps, 15 of one and 10 of the other. The hospital before had to choose which babies would get the lifesaving treatments - yikes!
