Irene's Outdoor Market

 

Our last stop of the day was at an Outdoor market - Irene's.  There we met two other senior couples and had lunch from food wagons.  Here is Elder Forsyth playing small marimba's with the owner and his son.
We learned some Afrikaans in the MTC from our friends the Kendels - Moai Noai means pretty girls.  The clerks were so cute and wanted to poise for me!
Some of their products - they also had de Terra essential oils!!!  R stands for Rand, their dollar equivalent - except 7 R make one US dollar!

This darling baby was sound asleep while his mother sold peelers!  
The senior couples just after eating lunch -  the market was in a huge grove of eucalyptus trees. It is always fun to with the other senior couples.  There were many things I would like to come back sometime and look closer at - they closed just after two and we got there around one - but it is pretty close to town and we will go again.  Fun Day!

  Sunday October 31, Elder and Sister Elggren drove us to our assigned ward - the Kwa Thelma 2nd ward.  It was Stake Conference and both wards met together - great talks!  Wonderful to meet the people we will be serving on Sundays.  It is about a 40 minute drive from the city - delightful children. The Temple is right next to the Area Offices - all are in a park like setting - an old estate that the Church purchased. View from behind the temple. Great granddaughter Clementine Jo Romberg - born December 29, 2023

Maddie and Dane had their little girl on December 29, 2023.  What a wonderful way to end the year!! Clementine Jo Romberg - 7 pounds, 21 inches - PERFECT! Maddie is wonder woman - she had the baby at home!  With a midwifes' help!  Yikes!!  She's tired. Beautiful - just from Heaven!!  Emily came over from Denver to be with them a week.  Then Kurt drove the rest over to pick her up and meet darling Clementine!

Our Self Reliance Office

  Brother Philip showing Elder Smith some of the places we have Pathway students.  He has traveled extensively all over the world. He is really a wonderful manager - his office is right next to ours.  This is a poster we have been working on - the senior couples will take it to their individual chapels this weekend and ask the Bishop/Branch President if they can post it on the bulletin board...hopefully! Elder Smith hard at work! Copy machine in the background - Display behind it...for projects. Sister Smith hardly working!!   Both of our desks - it is nice to be working on this mission together.
