First Stop - Amsterdam, Holland - Next Paris, France - Last stop - Johannesburg, South Africa!
Our flight was delayed three hours leaving Salt Lake City. There was a mechanical problem that got fixed and we finally took off for Amsterdam! It was a nine plus hours and a long night! There was dinner and breakfast on the plane - kind of fun.
Beautiful fresh tulips at the airport in Holland! So pretty and smelled like spring in Ocotber!
Tired travelers in front of the tulips. We met a young elder traveling to the Durban, South Africa mission. He watched our luggage went we went to lunch, and we did his. The airlines gave us a voucher for food because of the delay. We were rerouted to Paris, France and then to South Africa.
Big wooden tulips!
Our flight to Paris was only two hours -- we arrived around 2 and didn't leave until 8 for South Africa.
Eifel Tower on a store front!
Air France plane out of the window.
On the flight, the man sitting right next to Elder Smith got sick and passed out! The flight attendants put him on the floor and called for a doctor - they worked on him for about ten minutes until he came to and began moving - I was praying! They took him up in the front of the plane. The flight was ten hours and we had dinner again and breakfast - better food!
This is the Johannesburg, South Africa airport - named after Nelson Mandela's mentor. We were very happy to see our driver - he brought a friend with a car - one for us another one for our luggage.
Tired happy travelers! Our driver was surprised we only had two large suitcases and two smaller ones!
My own little miracle! The small scissors are my embroidery ones - I called the airlines and was told if they were three inches I could bring them on the plane. The large ones were in Polly's car and we used them in our apartment - I put them in my bag thinking I would take them out and replace them in Polly's car as we drove to Lindsey's. I totally forgot and didn't see them in the bag until we were in the air! Yikes! Remember when the Prophet Joseph had to hide the plates in a barrel of beans? There were wicked men on both sides of the road and he drove the wagon right between them - they didn't see them. It has been wonderful to have the larger scissors here!
